This spring, Metamorphosis Dance ensemble in conjunction with Metamorphosis Dance Academy will present Spring Gala. Throughout time, dance has always been a reflection of the social, political, and economic shifts of a people. The second performance of the season will explore key moments that brought about some of history’s most prolific composers and choreographers. Including special performances that feature the students of the academy, the performance will include excerpts from classical ballets and popular moments from Broadway shows.
The performances will be on April 12-13 at the Boyd Vance Theater. This season’s Spring Repertory will have something for everyone.
Metamorphosis Dance ensemble is professional dance company comprised of dancers throughout the greater Austin area. The company consists of student artists and resident artists. The dancers are challenged to be versatile while also honoring their technical ballet foundation. Productions range from classical ballets such as The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty to original choreography in modern and jazz. Annually, they perform a free performance in Austin’s Zilker Park. The tradition of Ballet Under the Stars is one celebrated by thousands. The company was founded with the vision of seeing dancers grow throughout their careers and innovate the world of dance. Through masterful instruction, challenging choreography, and high caliber performance experiences, Metamorphosis Dance is working to change the shape of dance one dancer at a time.
