| Class Descriptions |
| All of our classes and levels are designed for both the serious and recreational student. We realize that not everyone who dances wants to be a professional, but we believe that anyone can benefit from good dance training. At any time if your child feels they would like to be challenged more and desire a career in dance, please let the director know and she can advise you on the best selection of classes. |
| All of these classes place an emphasis on social discipline, motor skills, musicality, and building the self-esteems of happy, healthy children. Creative expression and exploring the imagination are key to creating a love of dance that will last a lifetime. |
| Classical ballet is a style of dance strongly rooted in tradition and discipline. It places an emphasis on lines of the body, precise footwork, and artistically expressive positions of the arms. |
| Jazz is a style of dance that finds its roots in ballet, but was enhanced by musical trends, social dances, and the popularization of dance through movies and musicals. It can be percussive with intricate rhythm patterns or fluid with emotional intensity. These classes place an emphasis on isolating body parts, increased flexibility, and exhibition of individual personality. Hip hop and lyrical are styles of jazz dancing that will be covered in the syllabus of the class. |
| Tap is a style of dance emphasizing precise footwork and rhythm. It teaches and requires astute musicality. |
| Modern is not so much a system or technique, as an attitude toward dance. It is a point of view that encourages artistic individualism and the development of choreographic styles. |
