Latisha Coffey has been teaching since 2000. She has taught for Center Stage and Dance
Center in Deer Park, Texas. More recently, she has taught at Footnotes Dance Studio in Oak
Hill. Mrs. Coffey graduated from the Performing and Visual Arts School in Houston, Texas, and
received her degree in dance from Texas State University. She has studied with master teachers
from the Martha Graham Company, Alvin Ailey, Twyla Tharp, the Joffrey Ballet, and renowned
teachers Wade Robson, Mia Michaels, and Shane Sparks. During her studies at Texas State
University she was a member of the Strutters Dance Team. As part of the Texas State Strutters,
she performed in Russia, Sweden, and Norway and also, annually for a Spurs game in San
Antonio, Texas. She also choreographed and danced with the Jazz Co. at TSU. In 2008, she
began dancing and choreographing for Austin Metamorphosis Dance Ensemble, and now
holds the position of Artistic Director. She believes that dancers should be exposed to a variety
of styles and teachers to get a well-rounded dance education. She makes a connection with
each student during each class to enrich the experience and inspire a passion for dance that
extends beyond their time together.
