AMDE is excited to announce its 2017-2018 season. We will open the season with our annual holiday treat, The Nutcracker: Suite Dreams. Our original version of this timeless story melds the old with the new, the classical with the contemporary, and the result is a ballet full of unforgettable characters and melodies. Join us on Dec. 8-10 at the Boyd Vance Theater inside the George W. Carver Museum and Cultural Center.
In the Spring, we will present an original ballet of Snow White. Following the classic tale, we will bring the characters to life through dance as you've never seen them before. Come see as the young beauty, Snow White, grows into the young woman that threatens the Evil Queen and is forced to run for her life and along the way makes some unlikely friends. Will her sweet naïveté be her doom or will her new friends be able to save her from death? Snow White will be presented at the Boyd Vance Theater on April 27-28.
Finally, our season will conclude with our annual Ballet Under the Stars on June 1-2 (rain date June 3) at the Zilker Hillside Theater. This longtime Austin tradition is a must-see for the whole family. We save the best for last and bring everything our repertoire has to offer including ballet, jazz, modern, and contemporary. Presenting works from the artistic staff, resident artists, emerging choreographers, and guest choreographers, this show will surely inspire the artist in all of us!
